Arsenal reach agreement to extend Arteta's contract

Arteta’s current contract expires at the end of the current season, but negotiations over a new deal have been ongoing with him for several months.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported earlier this month that an agreement among all parties was imminent, before the same source added that Arteta had reached a final agreement with the “Gunners” to extend his stay at the club.

Although there is no official confirmation regarding the length of the new contract, it is expected to secure his continuation with Arsenal for at least ten years, counting from his joining the team in December 2019.

Speaking about the contract negotiations, Arteta said last week: “There is no need for them (the fans) to worry about any of these matters, because I want to stay here. I am very happy and feel great gratitude for working with the people I work with.”

It is worth noting that Arsenal is currently in second place in the English Premier League standings with 12 points, after winning their first four matches of the season before suffering their first defeat against Brighton in their most recent match prior to the current international break.
