Gulf Air announced today the resumption of transit and connecting flight services for passengers via the Island Passenger Terminal (T5) at Kuwait International Airport, effective October 1, 2026, offering travelers convenient connection options to continue their journeys across the airline’s network, which currently serves more than 45 destinations. The announcement was made during a meeting with business partners and customers held today, during which the airline also opened booking for transit flights starting tomorrow.
The resumption of these services marks an important step in strengthening connections between Gulf Air’s destinations, enabling passengers on eligible connecting flights to transit through Kuwait and continue their travel smoothly to their next destination on Gulf Air flights.
Headquartered in Kuwait, which serves as the central hub of its operations network, Gulf Air connects passengers via Terminal 5 to a wide range of markets and destinations across various regions. The resumption of connecting flight services provides travelers with broader and more flexible travel options, in addition to the direct flights operated by the airline, supporting its growth and expansion plans in the coming period.
Passengers can benefit from connection options through several key travel routes, including flights between the Indian subcontinent and Saudi Arabia, as well as Arab Mashreq countries, and between Africa and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, in addition to numerous destinations within Gulf Air’s network. As the airline continues to expand and add new destinations with growing demand, such as Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and Aswan in Egypt, these services will offer travelers even more travel and seamless connection options through Kuwait.
Parathan Pasupathy, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air, said: “Since resuming full operations at Terminal 5 in May 2026, we have continued to operate within restricted hours and without transit or connecting flight services for passengers. The return of these services through Kuwait, effective October 1, represents a significant milestone for Gulf Air and our customers alike, as it allows us to better leverage the strength of our destination network, provide more travel options, and facilitate passenger movement between the markets we serve.”
He added: “Kuwait is our home and holds a strategic position at the heart of our destination network. As Gulf Air enters its next phase of growth, connecting flights will play an increasingly important role in expanding our network and supporting our entry into new markets, further enhancing Kuwait’s position as a regional travel gateway.”
Connecting flight services also offer greater flexibility for travelers, enabling Gulf Air to link destinations that may not have direct flights between them, providing convenient options and competitive prices through Kuwait.
