Attempt to smuggle 4 kilograms of heroin in a shipment of auto parts thwarted

The General Directorate for Anti-Narcotics, in coordination and cooperation with the General Directorate of Customs, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 4 kilograms of heroin into the country after it was concealed in an innovative manner within a shipment of auto spare parts.

Follow-up and investigation operations led to the arrest of two individuals of Sri Lankan nationality in the Al-Mubarakiya Al-Kubra and Al-Salwa districts, following their receipt of the shipment.

Upon completing the seizure procedures and searching the suspects' residences, approximately 4 kilograms of heroin, 100 grams of shabu (methamphetamine), and 16 metal crank pieces used to cover the contraband during the smuggling operation were found.

When confronted with the seized items, the suspects admitted that they were receiving instructions from a Sri Lankan national residing outside the country to receive shipments, unload the narcotics, and distribute them within the country in exchange for financial compensation.
