The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a statement, as reported by The Associated Press, that the fault at the Prestwick Centre in Scotland had been repaired, while the repercussions continued late into the day with flights being cancelled or delayed.

The authority noted that airports south of Manchester, including those to and from London, “were not significantly affected,” adding that the disruption was unrelated to the technical failure that led to the cancellation of more than 2,000 flights to and from the United Kingdom two weeks ago.

EasyJet, commenting on the latest flight disruptions, said the incident raised questions about the robustness of the CAA’s systems and highlighted the need for decisive action to prevent such failures from recurring.

British Airways expressed its “regret” that some passengers might face disruptions following “another technical fault” related to the CAA’s systems.
