The Municipal Council approved the use of vacant lands designated for government entities as temporary parking lots and requested that these sites be organized within the road right-of-way as parking areas. Site locations are to be determined through coordination between the Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of Interior, assessing the feasibility of utilizing each site individually and its specific requirements. The approval of the government entity for which the site is designated must be obtained to define the implementation phase of the project assigned to it. Parking lots must be removed whenever the designated government entity requests their removal, with the removal carried out by the same entity that implemented them, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance.

The Council also approved, during its session today chaired by Abdullah Al-Mohairi following the resumption of work after leave, the request from the General Administration of Customs to expand the Al-Salmiya border crossing site, currently covering 1,339,132 square meters, by an additional area of approximately 1,000,000 square meters, bringing the total area after expansion to 2,339,132 square meters. This expansion is intended to accommodate dry and wet storage areas, covered and open storage zones, and additional services for the crossings, conditional upon the submission of a comprehensive study assessing the environmental and social impact prior to implementation.

Furthermore, the Council approved the request from the Ministry of Public Works to allocate a sewage pipeline route to connect the sewage pumping station with the end of an existing route within the South Sabah Al-Ahmad residential city (N11). Amira clarified that the committee approved the request for a route approximately 1,900 meters long and 10 meters wide, conditional upon compliance with the stipulations outlined in the responses of the Sub-Committee for Utilities and Public Services and coordination with them prior to implementation, alongside the submission of a comprehensive environmental and social impact assessment study for the project, endorsed by the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs. The site location is to be fixed, considering the existence of the Green Belt project, for which the Municipal Council issued a decision, while authorizing the relevant administrations to carry out any relocation or modification in the route’s lengths and coordinates, provided such changes do not exceed the approved length, in cases of conflict with existing infrastructure services or for regulatory reasons.

The Council also approved the request to cancel the allocation of the site for the Third Olefins and Second Aromatics (D2) project and re-allocate it to the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC) to support expansion operations for the onshore treatment facilities and structures of the North Field (OPF) project in the Zour area.
