Al-Zaidi: Working to calm the situation in the region and contribute to resolving its crises

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi stated on Sunday that Iraq is working to de-escalate tensions in the region and contribute to resolving its crises, in line with its role and responsibility in supporting regional security and stability.

Al-Zaidi said, during a meeting with a group of heads of research, studies, and think tanks in Iraq, that “Iraq pursues an open foreign policy based on mutual respect and shared interests,” according to a statement from the Iraqi government.

He also noted that “Iraq is currently facing exceptional economic challenges, amid the repercussions of the war in the region and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.”
