US: Four killed in attack on boat suspected of drug smuggling

The U.S. military announced on Saturday that an American airstrike on a boat carrying individuals suspected of being drug smugglers in the Caribbean Sea resulted in the deaths of four people.

U.S. Southern Command stated that four “drug terrorists” were killed in an attack on a boat, and the United States claimed it was “operating along known drug trafficking routes” in the Caribbean Sea.

Under the order of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, the U.S. military has repeatedly targeted boats in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean as part of efforts to disrupt international drug trafficking networks.

Critics have questioned whether such lethal operations in international waters are permitted under international law. According to official figures, more than 220 people have been killed.
