Mexican Ambassador: We look forward to expanding economic and trade partnership with Kuwait
Mexican Ambassador to the country, Eduardo Patricio Peña Haller, emphasized the importance of Kuwaiti-Mexican relations, noting that the two countries are on a path of cooperation based on friendship and mutual respect. He stressed his country’s desire to continue working with Kuwait to deepen political dialogue, expand economic and trade relations, enhance cultural and educational cooperation, and open new areas for collaboration, including in the sports sector.
Speaking during a celebration hosted by his embassy to mark the 216th anniversary of Mexican independence, attended by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Nawaf Abdul Latif Al-Ahmad, along with several government officials and members of the diplomatic corps, Haller stated that Mexico attaches great importance to its relations with Kuwait and to the friendship that has been solidified over decades between the two countries and their peoples.
He explained that “Mexico and Kuwait established diplomatic relations in 1975, and since then, relations have developed on a solid foundation of mutual respect, friendship, and a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation,” adding that bilateral relations encompass political dialogue, economic, trade, cultural, and educational ties, as well as growing links between the two peoples.
The ambassador noted that his country places special importance on continuing to develop and expand the economic partnership with Kuwait, explaining that according to the latest official trade data available from the Mexican side, Mexican exports to Kuwait reached approximately $51 million in 2026 so far.
He also pointed out that the two countries have signed more than 25 agreements, explaining that the Mexican Embassy is making significant efforts to promote scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation between the two countries, enabling universities and research centers in both nations to encourage the participation of young Kuwaitis and Mexicans in advancing joint cooperation projects that contribute to strengthening ties between the two societies.
