"Health": Providing safe and comprehensive care throughout the patient's life

The Ministry of Health celebrated World Patient Safety Day today by organizing awareness activities at several hospitals and specialized departments, including the new Juhara Hospital, Mubarak Hospital, and the Health Promotion Department.
Dr. Bashaier Al-Fadhli, a consultant in internal medicine, head of the indicators team in the Quality Department, and chair of the organizing committee for the Patient Safety Day event at Juhara Hospital, stated that World Patient Safety Day is observed annually on September 17. This year’s theme is “Safe Care for Life.” She added that the event focuses particularly on raising awareness about non-communicable and chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancer, given their significant impact on patient health and quality of life.
She explained that the awareness efforts cover all stages of care, starting with prevention, early detection, and regular screenings, moving through diagnosis and treatment, and extending to follow-up and routine visits. She emphasized that the goal of the event is to underscore that patient safety is a shared responsibility, and that awareness and knowledge are among the most important foundations for providing safe and comprehensive healthcare throughout a patient’s life.
In this context, the Health Promotion Department held an awareness exhibition at the Promenade Mall to mark World Patient Safety Day. Dr. Abeer Al-Bahwa, the department’s director, said that this year’s theme encompasses five key components: prevention and risk reduction; prioritizing early detection and conducting tests that aid in disease identification; treatment within healthcare facilities; self-care and long-term disease management; and care coordination and transitions.
