"Assessment and Evaluation": Preparations to Participate in "Pearls"

The Ministry of Education is continuing its preparations to participate in the international PIRLS 2026 study, which aims to assess and enhance learners' reading skills in accordance with global educational standards and indicators.

The Ministry clarified that the meeting is part of the preparations and arrangements for implementing the international PIRLS 2026 study on reading proficiency, overseen by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA). The goal is to gauge learners' performance in reading skills and leverage the study's results to support efforts to improve the educational process, in line with best international standards and practices.

The Ministry also announced the organization of an intensive training course targeting school coordinators and test administrators, scheduled from September 22 to 24 at the headquarters of the Development and Training Department in the Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Health City area (Jabriya).

The Ministry stated that the training course aims to enhance the efficiency of the working teams and prepare them to implement the study's requirements optimally. This will be achieved through training on the procedures and instructions outlined in the approved manuals, thereby strengthening the readiness of the participating staff and ensuring the study is conducted in accordance with established international standards and regulations.
