Morocco and Israel agree to exchange embassies and upgrade diplomatic representation

Israel announced on Wednesday that it had agreed with Morocco to upgrade diplomatic representation and open embassies, following a meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries held in New York under U.S. sponsorship.

In a statement issued by the Israeli Foreign Ministry, it was stated that “Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar held a trilateral diplomatic summit today in New York with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, at the invitation of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz.” He added, “The three countries renewed their commitment to a number of measures aimed at strengthening relations between Israel and Morocco, including (...) upgrading the two diplomatic missions to the level of embassies and appointing ambassadors.”
