Democratic lawmaker opposes $2.8 billion sale of U.S. bombs to Israel

Gregory Meeks, the senior Democrat on the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, said on Wednesday that he would not support the sale of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel due to concerns that the munitions may not be used in accordance with international law.
A U.S. official familiar with the deal said the administration of President Donald Trump intends to sell Israel $2.8 billion worth of munitions, including tens of thousands of highly destructive 2,000-pound bombs.
