Nicaraguan Ambassador: Kuwait is a model of balance and diplomacy
Mohammad Farara Lashtar, Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to the country, praised the wisdom of the Kuwaiti leadership and its balanced approach in dealing with regional crises, affirming that Kuwait represents a model of balance, diplomacy, and restraint. He stressed that dialogue remains the only path to achieving security, peace, and the resolution of crises.
In remarks to journalists on the sidelines of the Nicaraguan Embassy’s celebration of the 205th anniversary of the Republic’s independence, Lashtar stated that Kuwait has been among the most affected countries by the repercussions of regional crises. However, thanks to the wisdom of its leadership, it has managed to cope with various circumstances through patience, balance, and diplomacy. He expressed his hope that diplomatic efforts would succeed in ending tensions, reaffirming that “there is no escape and no alternative to dialogue.”
The Ambassador described Kuwaiti-Nicaraguan relations as “strong and solid,” rooted in a historical friendship, mutual respect, and fruitful developmental cooperation. He noted that diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1990, followed by the opening of the Nicaraguan Embassy in Kuwait, which became the first Nicaraguan embassy in the Gulf region and the Arab world.
He explained that the embassy in Kuwait covers several countries in the region, including the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, as well as Jordan, Lebanon, and Libya, while Nicaragua maintains another embassy in Algeria.
The Ambassador commended the role played by the Arab Kuwait Fund for Economic Development in supporting development projects in Nicaragua, noting that developmental cooperation between the two countries has spanned many years, particularly in the health sector.
He clarified that the Fund’s contributions helped establish and open the largest hospital in Nicaragua, located in a region with a population of approximately 700,000. He added that the project’s value reached $120 million, with the Fund’s contribution accounting for about 33 percent of the total value.
He pointed to opportunities for further cooperation in the field of medical devices and equipment, expressing his hope to expand cooperation in the areas of health, education, transportation, tourism, and investment.
He affirmed that Kuwait’s balanced policy has helped protect the country and handle crises with wisdom, expressing his hope that diplomatic efforts would succeed in ending tensions.
