Lavrov warns Europeans of a different and short war

Russian news agency Sputnik quoted Lavrov as saying: “We have said more than once that we do not intend to attack Europe.” He added: “But if Europe, which talks daily about preparing for war against Russia, attacks us, it will be a completely different war and a very short one. I hope this warning will be heard in European capitals.”

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, speaking at the “European Yalta Strategy” conference in Kyiv on the 12th of this month, stated: “If Russia attacks us and we take off our gloves, I believe we will defeat Russia very quickly.” He based this on the claim that NATO in Europe possesses an “overwhelming air superiority” over Moscow and is capable of maintaining this advantage and crippling Russia’s oil refining sector within just six weeks, even without direct U.S. intervention.

In response, Russian Deputy President and Chairman of the Russian Naval Forces, Nikolai Patrushev, warned that if Poland engages in direct military action against Russia, “the Polish state will disappear and cease to exist within just two or three days.” He indicated that Moscow would not hesitate to use its full arsenal, a clear reference to nuclear and strategic weapons.

For her part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described Sikorski’s remarks as stemming from a state of “acute Russophobia that has affected the brain,” dismissing his comments as mere media posturing with no connection to military reality.
