Sweden recalls Iranian ambassador and expels one embassy staff member

The authorities did not immediately disclose the identity of the expelled individual, nor did they specify the reason for his expulsion.
Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer said in a statement obtained by Agence France-Presse (AFP): “We are aware that Iran has long been conducting activities within and against Sweden, targeting individuals opposed to the Iranian regime, as well as various Jewish and Israeli interests in our country.”
Strömmer expressed regret that these operations were being carried out, particularly through criminal networks, without providing further details.
The Iranian Embassy in Sweden did not immediately respond to AFP’s request for comment.
