US: At Least 3 Dead in Helicopter Crash in Los Angeles

A helicopter crashed in Los Angeles, United States, on Tuesday, killing at least three people near the site of a bus crash that also resulted in fatalities, officials said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said another person was taken to the hospital, but their condition was not immediately clear.

It was not immediately clear whether some of those killed in the incident were on board the helicopter. Captain Brandon Silverman, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, said at a news conference that at least one of the deceased was outside the helicopter in a parking lot.

Silverman said the helicopter crashed in a parking lot, colliding with some parked vehicles or falling next to them. The parking lot serves a large single-story building, but the type of business housed there was not immediately clear.

The fire department said more than 50 firefighters responded to the helicopter crash. Officials reported that the fire damaged four vehicles and two storage containers, but it had been extinguished by Tuesday evening.
