Meta plans to launch a camera-free smart glasses in the fall

The Information reported on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter, that Meta Platforms plans to launch a camera-less smart glasses device, internally codenamed "Luna," this fall, amid growing scrutiny of smart glasses and their recording capabilities.

The report noted that the new glasses model features six built-in microphones, allowing users to interact with Meta’s AI chatbot and "Muse," the company’s recently launched consumer-facing AI agent.

The Information added that "Luna" also includes a side button for quickly activating "Meta AI," as well as speakers similar to those found in current models.

According to the report, Meta may unveil the glasses during its annual developer conference, "Connect," scheduled for next Wednesday and Thursday, with shipments targeted to begin in October.
