Three killed in shooting at a tourist area in Istanbul

Three people were killed and another injured in a shooting at a store in the Fatih district of Istanbul, a popular tourist area, following an altercation between the shop owner and a customer, according to the official Turkish Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.

The altercation reportedly took place at a currency exchange office, according to unconfirmed media reports. Initial reports indicated that two people were killed and two others injured, but these figures were updated shortly thereafter.

The shooting occurred at Sofu Han, a shopping center near the Grand Bazaar. The Fatih district, located on the European side of Istanbul, is a tourist hub that houses numerous shops and landmarks.

The private Turkish news agency DHA published images showing a person being carried on a stretcher to an ambulance. A video shared on the X platform also showed the scene.
