Al-Miftah: "O Lawyer of Love" – A New Samira Next Month
Al-Mutairi told Al-Jarida that the song “Ya Mahami Al-Garam” (Oh, Lawyer of Love) is composed and written by him, with arrangements by Fahad Al-Suwaidan. He clarified that it represents a rural Samri style, distinct from his song “Tara Ma Jirali,” which featured a fast and cheerful melody, whereas the second song is more subdued.
He added that Kuwaiti singing holds a special appeal for any vocalist, which motivated him to repeat the experience following the success of “Tara Ma Jirali.” Released as a music video several months ago, the song achieved significant success through collaboration with the theater troupe “Al-Dakan,” resulting in a distinctive and unique work unlike his previous offerings.
Al-Mutairi emphasized that change is essential for an artist or singer, as sticking to a single style does not provide sufficient opportunity to showcase artistic potential. While some artists excel more in one particular genre than another, the only way to discover an artist’s distinctiveness and creative capabilities is through change, experimentation, and presenting various traditional styles.
He noted that he is currently preparing new works, including launching a Tanbura-style song titled “Mishtaqla” (I Miss It) next year (2027). The song, with lyrics and music by Ahmed Al-Sharrah and arrangements by Fahad Al-Suwaidan, is currently in production. He is also occupied with several private concerts in Kuwait and Gulf countries.
Regarding the possibility of repeating his dramatic experience after the play “Al-Dakan,” Al-Mutairi said: “I was very fortunate to collaborate with a distinguished team in the play ‘Al-Dakan,’ which marked a successful and encouraging debut in the world of theater. I would repeat it in the future if the elements of success are present, including a capable team, a compelling story, and songs that suit my presence, to deliver an artistic level worthy of the audience.”
He mentioned that he strives to convey an artistic message through various forms of expression, such as traditional songs, theater, or even on screen, with the aim of documenting authentic Kuwaiti arts and folk heritage, and introducing new generations to the history of singing and music, as well as the developments that have occurred in recent years.
Al-Mutairi’s participation in the performances of the play “Al-Dakan” involved portraying a neighborhood singer who performs traditional songs within the context of the story. He acted alongside Abdullah Al-Khodair, Hessa Al-Nabhan, Abdulmohsen Al-Omar, Abdulaziz Al-Saadoun, Nasser Al-Balushi, Hussein Al-Mahana, Shahd Khasrawi, and Meshal Al-Farhan. The play was written and directed by Mohammed Al-Humaidi.
Notably, Al-Mutairi is one of the prominent Kuwaiti voices who has achieved great popularity among both young and older audiences. He is keen on presenting his modern songs alongside Kuwaiti traditional music and works by leading singers. Among his own songs are “Laytani,” “Khatar,” “Hatha Al-Li,” “Wish Aad,” “Ah Min Qalb,” and others.
