Ahmad Eirag: "The Cursed Ones" is a cinematic horror play

Kuwaiti artist Ahmad Eirag is preparing to stage the play “The Cursed,” which offers a distinct experience in Kuwaiti theater by blending horror, tragedy, and cinematic techniques. Eirag emphasized that the production represents an unprecedented horror experience on the Kuwaiti stage.

Eirag stated that “The Cursed” introduces the audience to a new type of performance, noting that it is the first cinematic-style play in Kuwait. This makes it a highly challenging endeavor, both in terms of acting, visuals, and the atmospheric demands of the horror genre. The play also surprises audiences by featuring female characters as the source of horror, contrary to expectations and the conventions of Kuwaiti horror theater over the past years.

He added that the play belongs to the tragic horror category, combining elements of fear and suspense with dramatic, tragic events, thereby offering a mix that differs from traditional theatrical experiences.

Eirag stars in the production alongside Abdullah Al-Turkmani, Alaa Al-Hindi, Mohammed Al-Kazemi, Mohammed Dashti, Zahra Dahrab, Badr Al-Hindi, and Mubarak Al-Rajhi. The play is directed by Nasser Al-Jazaf, with Abdullah Al-Jazaf contributing to the script, and is produced by Pop Company for Theatrical Art Production.

“The Cursed” is scheduled to begin performances on the 25th at the Emerald Hall in the Bidaa area, running for only one week, amid anticipation for an experience that seeks to present horror through a theatrical formulation infused with a cinematic spirit.
