Sherine Adel: I learned from Adel Imam, both artistically and humanely

Artist Shereen Adel stated that her participation in the film “Hassan and Morcos,” alongside actors Adel Imam and the late Omar Sharif, was one of the key milestones in her artistic career, noting that the experience gave her the opportunity to work with two of Egypt’s most prominent cinema stars.
During the panel she presented as part of the Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival events, Shereen explained that “Hassan and Morcos” was a different experience for her, particularly because the film was written by Youssef Ma’aty, whose writing she praised for its excellence, in addition to working with Adel Imam and Omar Sharif. She pointed out that the presence of such major names provided an opportunity to learn and acquire new skills, and that the film’s success upon its release kept the experience vivid in her memory as one of the influential milestones in her career.
She spoke about her experience working with Adel Imam, affirming that she learned a great deal from him on both artistic and human levels, especially his attention to detail and his dedication to every stage of production, from preparation to filming. She noted that interacting with him revealed to her different aspects of how to prepare for a character and a scene, and allowed her to benefit from the experience of an artist who had spent many years working in cinema and drama.
She also recalled her memories with Omar Sharif, explaining that standing in front of him was a dream for her, and that she initially felt fear and awe due to his stature and long history in Egyptian and international cinema. She affirmed that his supportive treatment helped her overcome these feelings and deliver her role with greater confidence, considering the experience with him as an important one that would remain linked to an early and influential phase of her artistic journey.
Shereen also touched upon her beginnings in acting, noting that the series “Al-Marsa wal-Bahar” (The Harbor and the Sea), alongside actor Yehia El-Fakharany, was one of the experiences that shaped a significant part of her early career, particularly because it came at an early stage of her journey alongside one of the most prominent stars of Egyptian and Arab drama, giving her the opportunity to understand the nature of the work and gain experiences that assisted her in her subsequent steps.
Regarding her recent experience in the series “Fun al-Harb” (The Art of War), she said the project was different for her, particularly because the character she portrayed carried many details on both human and dramatic levels.
She also spoke about her collaboration with actor Youssef Sharif in the series, noting that their mutual understanding helped in delivering the scenes well, and that the project brought them together in an experience characterized by a distinct chemistry between them, which added to her experience in the series.
