Ooredoo Concludes 'Generation O' Program to Empower Young Talents

Ooredoo Kuwait announced the completion of the first cohort of its “Generation O” training program, which targeted university students and recent graduates to attract talent, develop their skills, and provide them with a comprehensive practical experience within one of the region’s largest telecommunications companies.
The program aligns with Ooredoo Kuwait’s strategy to invest in national talent and enhance young people’s readiness for labor market demands, particularly amid the rapid transformations occurring in the telecommunications, technology, and digital economy sectors.
Spanning four weeks, the program offered participants an immersive, interactive experience that provided close exposure to Ooredoo Kuwait’s work environment across several key sectors, including Consumer (B2C), Business (B2B), Marketing, Corporate Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Strategy, and Technology.
“Generation O” focused on developing skills in high demand in the job market, with special emphasis on digital technologies, network operations, customer experience, innovation, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The program went beyond theoretical learning, relying instead on experiential learning and direct interaction with work teams. This enabled participants to explore various career paths, understand the nature of work in the telecommunications and technology sectors, and gain a clearer vision of the fields in which they could build their professional careers.
In this context, Ooredoo Kuwait continues to develop its training programs and initiatives in line with labor market requirements, focusing on future skills, leadership, innovation, and digital transformation. These efforts aim to prepare national talent capable of competing and contributing to the future of the digital economy.
Commenting on the program, Omar Al-Bassam, Head of Human Resources and Administrative Services at Ooredoo Kuwait, said: “At Ooredoo, we believe that investing in human capital is the most sustainable investment. Building the future of the telecommunications and technology sector begins with empowering young people, giving them the opportunity to discover and develop their capabilities, and turning their ambitions into tangible achievements.”
He added: “The Generation O program embodies our vision of transitioning from traditional training concepts to a comprehensive experience that places young people at the heart of the work environment, providing them with a genuine space to learn, participate, and interact with various company sectors.”
Al-Bassam emphasized that the company views young talent as an integral part of Ooredoo Kuwait’s present and future, noting its commitment to providing an environment that enables young men and women to learn from experienced professionals, gain practical experience, explore different career paths, and develop their skills in technology, innovation, digital competencies, and multidisciplinary work.
He stated: “Our responsibility toward Kuwaiti talent goes beyond providing a training or job opportunity; it is a continuous commitment that begins with skill-building and extends to mentoring, development, providing growth opportunities, and fostering accountability. Through these efforts, we aim to enhance young people’s readiness to compete and effectively contribute to leading Kuwait’s digital and economic transformation, in alignment with the objectives of Kuwait New Vision 2035.”
For his part, Issa Al-Bashir, Senior Human Resources Manager at Ooredoo Kuwait, said the company is working to develop a comprehensive experience for young talent, starting from the post-graduation phase and extending into the labor market. He explained that the “Generation O” program was designed to give participants the opportunity to discover their capabilities and test their skills in a real work environment.
He added, “We believe that the best way to prepare young people for the labor market is by giving them the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Therefore, the program was designed to go beyond theory, by allowing trainees to interact with various teams and explore multiple fields, ranging from marketing, communications, and human resources, to technology, strategy, business and individual sectors.”
He emphasized that investing in youth represents a long-term commitment, noting that the company continues to develop its training programs in parallel with the changes occurring in the labor market, focusing on critical thinking, innovation, teamwork, adaptability, and continuous learning, alongside technical skills.
For her part, Sara Al-Jassar, Learning and Talent Management Specialist at Ooredoo Kuwait, expressed her pride in the completion of the first cohort of the O Generation program, affirming that it represents a comprehensive investment in Kuwaiti youth by developing their capabilities, enhancing their skills, and preparing them to build successful career paths.
She said, “We are proud to have completed the first cohort of the program, which represents a holistic investment in Kuwaiti youth, aiming to build their capabilities, develop their skills, and empower them to become leaders and active contributors in their community. We look forward to the program’s graduates continuing their journey toward further success and contributing their acquired knowledge and experience to build a more innovative and sustainable future.”
O Generation extends Ooredoo Kuwait’s approach to investing in human capital, developing the work environment, and refining human resources practices, thereby reinforcing its position as a leading entity in this field in Kuwait.
In 2025, Ooredoo Kuwait won two awards—Employer of Choice and Best Employee Benefits Package—at the annual HRM Summit, Awards & Expo, in recognition of its efforts to provide an attractive work environment and a system of benefits and opportunities supporting professional development and employee well-being.
At the Ooredoo Group level, the group officially received the Great Place to Work certification, based on employee opinions and direct experiences. The results showed that 89% of employees view Ooredoo as a great place to work, while more than 92% expressed pride in being part of the group.
The company’s efforts in developing human capital, empowering youth, and supporting local talent fall under its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, reflecting its orientation toward achieving a positive and sustainable impact on Kuwaiti society.
O Generation is not limited to providing a short-term training experience; rather, it is part of a broader initiative to bridge the gap between youth and the labor market, helping them transform their academic knowledge into practical skills, discover their professional interests, and build clearer and more sustainable career paths.
Through these initiatives, Ooredoo Kuwait continues to invest in national talent, enhance youth readiness for the future, and open opportunities for them to contribute to the development of the telecommunications, technology, and digital economy sectors, in line with Kuwait’s aspirations to build a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and investment in national capabilities.
