Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday evening that Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from Abdullah bin Zayed, during which they discussed recent regional developments and efforts to contain escalation amid the rapid changes unfolding in the region.
The call came hours after bin Farhan stated during his participation in the 2026 BRICS summit in New Delhi, India’s capital, that “Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will not accept attacks on their territories and facilities, regardless of the excuses or labels used,” emphasizing that “the security of the Arabian Gulf can only be stabilized through the sovereignty of its states.”
The Saudi minister said in his speech that “Gulf countries reaffirm the importance of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and other sea lanes.”
