Rehabilitation training for the Blue Team in preparation for Gulf Cup 27

Kuwait’s senior national football team underwent a recovery program on Monday morning as part of their current training camp in the Qatari capital, Doha. The camp is preparing the squad for the Gulf Cup 27, hosted by Saudi Arabia from October 23 to November 6.
The draw placed Kuwait in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Iraq, while Group B features the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Yemen.
The recovery program, conducted after each training session to prevent player fatigue and overexertion, is supervised by Dr. Abdulmajid Al-Banna, head of the medical committee at the Kuwait Football Association and head of the national team’s medical staff, along with the fitness coach.
Kuwait played a friendly match against Qatari Stars League side Al-Lusail yesterday evening at 7:00 PM, as this report went to press.
Meanwhile, the senior team’s technical staff, led by Portuguese manager Hélio Sousa, will hold a tactical lecture today, with players granted rest during the evening training session. The lecture will focus on analyzing Saudi Arabia, Kuwait’s opponent in the tournament’s opening match, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses.
Sousa is reportedly leaning toward using a consistent starting lineup throughout the tournament, utilizing only the five permitted substitutions. This marks a shift from the FIFA Arab Cup held in Qatar last year, where he rotated his lineup for every match.
Ayman Al-Husseini, Deputy Chairman of the Kuwait Football Association for Technical Affairs, thanked the Kuwaiti Ambassador for his efforts in providing all necessary support for the national team’s delegation during the Doha camp, praising the Kuwaiti Embassy in Qatar for its significant assistance in facilitating the team’s preparations.
In other news, Kuwait’s Olympic team will conclude their training today in preparation for their match against Vietnam, scheduled for Tuesday. The game marks the opening fixture of Group 3 in the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026), which will be held in Japan from October 19 to November 4.
The Olympic team’s technical staff, led by Spanish coach David Doniga, is finalizing the tactical plan for the encounter. The strategy emphasizes an attacking approach while securing the defensive half, starting from the middle of the pitch, to disrupt the opponent’s attacks early.
Doniga is also putting the finishing touches on the starting lineup that will face Vietnam.
