Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif affirmed Pakistan’s full support for the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during a phone call initiated today, Sunday, with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call on Sunday from Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, during which they discussed developments in the situation and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

SPA added that the Pakistani Prime Minister expressed his country’s condemnation of the attacks being carried out against the Kingdom by the Houthi militia, and strongly denounced the blatant violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, reiterating Pakistan’s full solidarity and support for the Kingdom.

The Pakistani Prime Minister also condemned the attacks targeting the Kingdom’s vital oil infrastructure and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Kingdom’s security, while praising the Kingdom’s stance of restraint and its support for Iraqi government efforts to prevent the use of its territory for attacks against the Kingdom and neighboring countries, according to SPA.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the Houthi attacks targeting civilian facilities and energy installations in Saudi Arabia, reaffirming his country’s steadfast solidarity with the Kingdom, its leadership, and its people.

Sharif described the attacks as “cowardly,” which resulted in injuries to several individuals. Pakistan’s position comes amid ongoing developments in the region. Islamabad has previously reiterated on several occasions its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the Kingdom’s security and sovereignty, and has condemned Houthi attacks and threats targeting Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are linked by strong defense agreements, most notably the bilateral Strategic Defense Cooperation Agreement signed in September 2025, as well as the “Mecca Defense Agreement” (Mecca Pact), a trilateral accord signed by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey on August 7, 2026, which stipulates that any armed attack on any of the three countries will be considered an attack on all.
