School resumes today for 481,000 students

School bells rang yesterday morning, signaling the start of the new academic year. The first day saw first-grade primary students settling into their classrooms, followed today by their peers in the remaining primary, intermediate, and secondary grades. Kindergarten classes are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, the day after tomorrow.

While first-grade primary students resumed classes yesterday morning to mark the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year, their classmates in the rest of the primary, intermediate, and secondary grades are being welcomed by schools today to start their new academic year.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Education announced that the academic year commenced with the attendance of first-grade primary students, while students in the remaining primary, intermediate, and secondary grades will resume classes today. Kindergarten attendance is set to begin on Wednesday.

The Ministry noted that the total number of students in government schools, private Arabic schools, and religious education institutions amounts to 481,511 students. This figure encompasses all educational stages and Arabic educational systems welcoming students at the start of the new academic year.

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to providing a safe learning environment for students and educational staff, and its continued efforts to monitor school readiness and complete requirements related to the academic year, thereby supporting a stable and motivating environment for learning and academic achievement.
