It is drugs, and nothing else—the most vicious and vile weapon that has wiped out entire societies, even altering their identities. How much more so in a small country like ours, with a population not exceeding a few million?
It appears that our beloved Kuwait is not only exposed to these risks, but a destructive network has already taken root. Had it not been closely monitored and its masterminds brought to justice, Kuwait would later have faced a catastrophe too vast to comprehend.
There are hidden hands deliberately targeting Kuwaiti society and the Arab Gulf region as a whole. Over time, these sabotage networks have been refining their innovative methods to breach any border crossing—land, sea, or air—in order to reach their hidden markets. These markets have now been exposed to Kuwaiti authorities, who recently thwarted the smuggling of five tons of raw Lortab powder and a fully integrated packaging facility.
Undoubtedly, anyone who managed to lead this operation possessed a calculated criminal plan and advanced techniques for distributing this poison among Kuwaitis, marketing it as medical drugs to deceive consumers.
In reality, what has been achieved through the largest seizure operation in Kuwait’s history is not a fleeting event. It is an added achievement not only for the Ministry of Interior and Kuwaiti authorities, but also for Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, who reaffirmed that professionalism in responsible work necessarily requires direct presence as a crucial component in executing any field operation. This presence confers a sense of heroism, especially when it concerns the security of an entire country.
Indeed, this is genuine operational conduct. Since he assumed office at the Ministry of Interior, Kuwait has been on constant alert—not merely for purification, but in anticipation of any transgression or emergency. Had this mechanism not been in place, and had this exceptional man not led these operations, particularly the recent landmark operation, Kuwait would have drowned in the trap of calamities.
Yes, it is competence combined with vigilance crowned by conscience, and love for Kuwait, which has been waging a fierce battle for a long time against this phenomenon through enacting strict laws, alongside field operations that have transcended borders to protect Kuwait’s interior and safeguard the most vital segment of society: the youth, who could otherwise become a reckless, absent, and marginalized group, simply deprived of awareness, God forbid.
Drugs defy any description; they are more than a scourge—they are destruction itself. One who drowns in them cannot easily escape, apart from the risks of falling into crime.
There is no doubt that the trust the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has instilled in us is immense. However, this crime was particularly vile. Its perpetrators exploited the entire regional context, taking advantage of the tension experienced by all people in the region with their governments, by attempting to infiltrate the health sector. A pill is a universal need at all times, so what happens when that content turns into poison that lays the foundation for murder, addiction, psychological disorder, and social collapse?
We all have full confidence today that the issue has become everyone’s concern and is under close monitoring at the highest levels, that justice will take its course, and that retribution will serve as a warning to anyone who dares to tamper with Kuwait’s security.
