US: Eight members of one family killed by a man in Montana during a family dinner

A man killed eight of his relatives, including four children, during a Sunday dinner at a home in Billings, Montana, before taking his own life, according to a family spokesperson who told The Associated Press.

Jennifer Mercer, who set up an online fundraising campaign to help cover funeral costs and other expenses and was authorized to share details, said the victims spanned four generations of the family, ranging from a grandmother in her 90s to a 7-year-old girl.

Police said they responded to a call about the home on Sunday evening, heard gunshots coming from the rear of the house, and then found the home fully engulfed in flames. Police confirmed multiple fatalities, including one person who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
