US Army: 4 killed in airstrike on ship in Caribbean region

The U.S. military said four people were killed in an attack targeting a ship in the Caribbean Sea, the latest in a series of strikes that Washington says target “drug terrorists,” but which human rights organizations condemn as extrajudicial killings.

U.S. Southern Command posted on X, “Confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel’s active involvement in drug trafficking. The operation resulted in the deaths of four drug terrorists.”

The command did not identify the deceased or provide details about the location, stating only that the ship was “operating on known drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean.”

The administration of President Donald Trump has been conducting strikes against vessels accused of transporting drugs since September 2025.

U.S. military strikes on these ships in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific have killed more than 210 people.

The U.S. military said on Monday that two people were killed in a strike on a ship in the eastern Pacific earlier in the week. That strike was the first in more than two months.
