Spokesman: US Secret Service aware of Iran's threat to Baron, youngest son of the President

A spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service said on Tuesday that the agency is aware of a video broadcast by Iranian state television discussing a potential plot to assassinate Barron Trump, the youngest son of President Donald Trump.

Nate Herring, the Secret Service spokesperson, said in an email, “The agency is aware of the video and is investigating any matter that could be considered a threat to the individuals we provide protection for. For operational security reasons, we do not discuss matters related to preventive intelligence measures.”

Iranian state television aired a three-minute video discussing a potential plot to assassinate Barron Trump, 20, stating that he is under surveillance and offering a $10 million reward for his killing.

The United States and Iran have been exchanging hostile rhetoric during a conflict that has lasted for approximately six months, which was initiated by the United States and Israel in February.

Reuters reported earlier this month, citing officials, that the United States had received several warnings from Israel over the past year indicating that Iran intended to assassinate Trump, with one such warning preceding a secret exercise involving the U.S. presidential aircraft in Turkey.
