Saudi Arabia: Resolving Conflicts Politically and Securing the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb

Saudi Arabia announced today its support for comprehensive and sustainable political and diplomatic solutions to conflicts, de-escalation, and the prevention of renewed tensions and conflicts in the region, emphasizing the necessity of keeping the Hormuz Strait, the Bab al-Mandab, and all vital waterways open, secure, and free from any threats.
During a meeting chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Jeddah, the Council of Ministers reviewed developments and trends on both the regional and international stages, as well as Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, support diplomatic solutions, and protect freedom of maritime navigation.
The Council commended the visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to France, noting that his discussions with President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed the strength of historical ties and the shared desire to deepen strategic cooperation across various fields. The two sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation based on a common vision aimed at establishing stability in the region and the world, grounded in safeguarding national sovereignty, respecting international law, prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions to conflicts, and addressing security threats.
The Council welcomed the outcomes of the first meeting of the Saudi-French Strategic Partnership Council, co-chaired by the Crown Prince and the French President, which included the launch of new initiatives, agreements, and memoranda of understanding in the fields of defense, health, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and entertainment. It also welcomed the results of the investment roundtable, which saw the announcement of 21 agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing economic partnership between the two countries and opening new avenues for joint cooperation and investment, amid growing bilateral relations and the broad opportunities provided by Saudi Vision 2030.
