Oil tanker hit by 'unspecified projectile' off the coast of Oman

The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency announced on the night of Monday into Tuesday that an oil tanker was struck by an “unspecified projectile,” causing damage to its engine room and rendering it “out of service” while sailing off the coast of Oman.

The agency stated that the ship was hit by an unspecified projectile that damaged the engine room and took the vessel out of operation, adding that the crew was unharmed. The incident occurred 9 nautical miles (16.7 kilometers) northeast of the Omani city of Shinas, in the Strait of Hormuz.
