Gauff wins Cincinnati Open title

World No. 4 Coco Gauff sent a strong message on Sunday ahead of the US Open, the fourth Grand Slam tournament in tennis, after her deserved 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jessica Pegula in an all-American final, securing her first title of 2026 at the Cincinnati Masters.

Gauff claimed her first WTA Tour title since winning in Wuhan last October, following defeats in the finals of Miami and Rome earlier this year.

Her victory over third-ranked Pegula earned her a second Cincinnati title.

Gauff had previously won her first title there in 2023, before capturing her first two US Open (Flushing Meadows) titles later that same year.

The all-American final in Cincinnati marked the first such matchup since Rosie Casals defeated Nancy Richey in 1970.
