Dollar retreats in Egypt after a series of gains

The US dollar exchange rate in Egypt declined during today’s trading sessions, ending a streak of gains recorded over the past few days, though it remained near a high of 51 Egyptian pounds in transactions at several Egyptian banks.
According to a survey conducted by “Arabia Business,” the highest dollar exchange rate was recorded at the Kuwaiti National Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, National Bank of Kuwait, Next Bank, the Arab Bank, and the Suez Canal Bank, at 50.83 Egyptian pounds for buying and 50.93 for selling.
The lowest dollar exchange rate was observed at the Egyptian Gulf Bank, Al Baraka Bank, and the Industrial Development Bank, at 50.70 Egyptian pounds for buying and 50.80 for selling. At the National Bank of Egypt, Bank of Egypt, Abu Dhabi First Bank, “Midbank,” and the United Bank, the dollar exchange rate stood at 50.74 Egyptian pounds for buying and 50.84 for selling.
At the Central Bank of Egypt, the dollar exchange rate was recorded at 50.80 Egyptian pounds for buying and 50.94 for selling. The Egyptian pound closed the year 2025 with strong performance, appreciating by 6.7% against the US dollar since the beginning of last year, supported by a record surge in remittances from Egyptians working abroad and the restoration of liquidity in the banking sector.
