Thai Prime Minister Meets with Senior Security Officials Following Coordinated Attacks in Three Southern Provinces

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held an emergency meeting yesterday, Sunday, with senior security officials in the wake of coordinated violence that occurred overnight in three provinces in the southern region, where a limited armed insurgency led by Muslim groups is active.

The meeting took place before Anutin traveled to the north of the country to inspect the province of Nan, which is suffering from severe flooding, following the recording of 51 incidents on Saturday evening in the provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala, in the far south of Thailand.

The attackers did not engage in direct confrontations with army or police forces, and only three civilians were injured, with reports indicating they are recovering, as of Sunday.

It remains unclear when transport services will resume amid ongoing security uncertainty.

As is often the case with such attacks, authorities have not yet publicly accused any group of responsibility, nor has any party claimed responsibility for the attacks.
