Russia: Two children killed in Ukrainian drone attack targeting the country's south

Two children were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack targeting southern Russia early on Monday, according to the governor of the Krasnodar region.

Benjamin Konstantinov said on the Telegram app that “drone debris fell on a children’s center in Krasnodar, unfortunately resulting in the deaths of two children.”

He added that seven other children and two adults were injured, noting that a fire broke out in a warehouse, amid Ukraine’s recent targeting of Russian infrastructure. Tass news agency reported that a warehouse in Krasnodar belonging to the e-commerce platform Ozon, which has been specifically targeted in recent days, came under drone attack.

Strikes on these less fortified warehouses, compared to military targets, have caused billions of dollars in damages.

Moscow condemned these attacks on “its civilian infrastructure,” more than four years after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the destruction of entire cities.

These new attacks come as Ukraine marks the 35th anniversary of its independence on Monday, and hosts the “Coalition of the Willing” meeting, a gathering of countries supporting it against the Russian invasion.
