Iranian President Acknowledges Economic Difficulties Facing the Country

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged the existence of difficulties within the country as Washington plans to tighten sanctions on Tehran.

According to a statement published on the official website of the presidency, Pezeshkian said in a speech that the government is committed to reducing the inflation rate.

He also spoke of “significant imbalances in the fields of water, electricity, gas, fuel, the environment, and the banking sector,” which he said his administration had “inherited.”

In his speech, Pezeshkian appeared to be addressing the latest threats issued by US President Donald Trump, who had threatened Iran with an economic war, following approximately six months since the onset of the military conflict.

According to the statement, Pezeshkian said Iran is facing a “comprehensive economic, military, and security war,” noting that enemies had openly threatened to impose unprecedented sanctions on the country.
