Zelensky Rejects Elections and Warns of Russian Mobilization

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned today that holding elections in Ukraine, as called for by his former defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov and previously advocated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump, “would be like a tsunami striking Ukraine and splitting its ranks.” He added, “If we want to destroy Ukraine, we can then proceed toward holding elections during wartime.”
Zelenskyy, who was elected president in 2019, cautioned that Russia is planning to mobilize an additional 300,000 soldiers to bolster its war efforts following the Russian parliamentary elections scheduled for September 2027, in order to achieve its main objective of seizing the remaining parts of Donetsk.
