Kuwait Finance House: 10.7% increase in existing housing applications over nine months
The Public Authority for Housing Welfare continues to fulfill citizens’ requests for suitable housing. According to the latest report on the Authority’s housing projects in June 2026, the number of pending housing applications stands at 108,000, representing a 10.7% increase compared to the last statistics released by the Authority in the third quarter of 2025. This rise is attributed to citizens’ keen interest in benefiting from the anticipated real estate financing law. During May 2026, the Authority successfully provided more than 42,000 services to citizens, reflecting an increase in the Authority’s operational and service activity. The Authority also announced that the first phase of the Real Estate Developer Program has attracted interest from the private sector, with the announcement of the qualification of real estate developers for the first three residential projects expected soon.
According to a report issued by Kuwait Finance House, the Authority made tangible progress in completing certain planned projects during the second quarter of 2026. It also announced the launch of several tenders for the implementation and completion of infrastructure in new cities, including main road works in South Sabah Al-Ahmed, which reached an execution rate of 78.2%. Actual execution rates in infrastructure contracts stood at 52.6%, reaching 54.7% in the second contract. Additionally, the Authority made progress in maintenance contracts for main roads in South Saad Al-Abdullah City, achieving an execution rate of 65.1%. It also made significant progress in the implementation of the Affordable Housing Project, with an execution rate of 43%. The Authority is implementing approximately 276 public buildings across various housing projects, including 170 buildings in Al-Mutlaa City, 74 in the Affordable Housing Project, and 17 in Sabah Al-Ahmed.
During the second quarter of 2026, the Authority signed several new contracts, including three new construction contracts with a total value of 29.9 million Kuwaiti dinars, as part of infrastructure development projects in Al-Mutlaa Residential City and the Affordable Housing Project. These contracts aim to develop the main road network and enhance electricity supply.
