Pirates disrupt a British power plant for four days

The British newspaper The Telegraph reported today that an unprecedented cyberattack carried out by hackers affiliated with the Iranian regime disrupted a power plant in the United Kingdom for four days.

It added that this marks the first time hackers linked to the Iranian regime have succeeded in disabling such a critical facility in the UK.

The incident coincided with a series of attacks on water infrastructure in the United States last July.

The newspaper noted that the targeted plant was believed to be relatively small and that the outage did not affect the UK’s overall power supply or electricity generation.

However, it has raised concerns about the expanding scope of cyberattacks targeting critical energy generation facilities, whose disruption could impact daily life in the UK amid rising temperatures.
