Abdul-Aati stresses to Al-Iraqji the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and respecting the security of Gulf states

This came during a phone call today between Abd al-Ati and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The call covered the overall current situation in the region and the efforts made to create conditions conducive to de-escalation and a return to the diplomatic track, both in the context of the negotiation process between the Sultanate of Oman and Iran and in the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable agreement that addresses various concerns and enhances regional security and stability.
Abd al-Ati and his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, also discussed in detail during a phone call today “the ongoing developments in the region, particularly those related to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.”
The United States and Iran remain at odds over the Strait of Hormuz and the conditions for ending the conflict, and the future of their talks remains unclear following the expiration of the 60-day negotiation period last Monday, as stipulated in the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries.
