Kuwait Airways changes passengers' bookings from First to Economy Class without their knowledge!

A number of passengers expressed their rejection and dismay over changes made to their booking classes on certain Kuwait Airways flights, noting that they were surprised to find their confirmed first-class or business-class reservations downgraded to economy class.

These passengers, in separate statements to Al-Jarida, questioned the procedure for handling such confirmed bookings, which they had paid for at premium travel classes, only to discover, upon reviewing their flight details or at a later stage, that their booking class had been changed.

They called on Kuwait Airways to clarify whether these changes were linked to flight rescheduling, aircraft type changes, or other operational reasons, as well as to explain the compensation mechanism for passengers who were downgraded to a lower class than the one they had paid for.

The passengers urged the airline to notify them clearly and in advance of any changes to their booking class, while ensuring the protection of their financial and service rights, and not holding them responsible for any operational changes affecting the flight.

In light of these demands, questions have arisen regarding the measures taken by Kuwait Airways to ensure that passengers who booked and paid for a higher travel class are not disadvantaged, and what mechanisms are in place to compensate them in the event of a downgrade.
