Manchester United reaches agreement to sign Palipá

Manchester United reached an agreement with Brighton to sign Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba in a deal worth $95 million, according to media reports yesterday.

Michael Carrick, United’s manager, has made significant changes to his midfield since the end of last season, and Baleba will be the latest addition.

The 22-year-old is scheduled to travel to Manchester later this week to finalize the transfer.

Baleba joined Brighton in 2023 from French club Lille, making more than 100 appearances for the team across all competitions.

Baleba was not at his best last season following interest from “the Red Devils,” starting in only 23 Premier League matches for Brighton and failing to score any goals. Belgian Yurri Tielemans and Brazilian Andre Santos joined Old Trafford during the summer transfer window from Aston Villa and Chelsea, respectively, to fill the void left by the departure of Brazilian Casemiro and the injury to Uruguayan Manuel Ugarte.
