KNPC Celebrates the 17th CEO Award for Health, Safety, and Environment
The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) celebrated the distribution of the 17th edition of the Chief Executive Officer’s Award for Health, Safety, and Environment. A special ceremony, organized by the company at its headquarters in Ahmadi City, honored its various departments and teams that achieved notable accomplishments and presented distinguished initiatives and projects in the fields covered by the award during the 2024/2025 fiscal year.
In her opening remarks at the ceremony, KNPC CEO Wadha Al-Khatib stated that the award has, over the years, solidified its importance and prestige as a reflection of the company’s strong commitment to the health and safety of its workforce, its dedication to protecting its vital facilities and infrastructure, and its genuine commitment to fulfilling its environmental responsibilities and preserving the environment.
She emphasized that health, safety, and environmental matters receive top priority and utmost importance from the company’s management, serving as the regulatory framework for its operations and the fundamental foundation ensuring the necessary protection for these activities. This framework guarantees the safety of company employees and workers employed by contracting companies. She noted that recent regional developments have underscored the significance of this vital aspect, the impact and effectiveness of which we have all witnessed within the state’s efforts to address the repercussions of the malicious hostile attacks the country suffered.
Al-Khatib pointed out that the projects and initiatives undertaken by the company are always based on health, safety, and environmental controls, requirements, and standards, including those falling under the umbrella of innovation, which the company encourages its employees to pursue. The company consistently strives to make innovation an institutional starting point for them on their path to success, progress, and excellence in their work performance.
In this regard, she stressed the importance of all employees adhering to these controls and standards, considering them a collective responsibility that requires continuous efforts to sustain, develop procedures and requirements, keep pace with new developments, and benefit from best global practices and experiences.
During the ceremony, several success indicators achieved by the company in the fields of health, safety, and environment during the past fiscal year were presented. These included conducting more than 3,000 training sessions benefiting over 60,000 trainees, receiving eight international safety awards, obtaining 146 professional accreditations, and re-certifying three ISO quality standards for the next three years. Additionally, the company achieved an implementation rate of 94 percent within its campaigns and events plan, and secured second place in blood donation campaigns across Kuwait.
