Al Wasl signs Iranian Mehdi Taremi

Al Wasl posted on its X account images of Taremi signing his contract with his new club, holding the number 9 jersey, without providing further details.

Al Wasl tops the UAE Pro League after winning their first two matches, and Taremi will be a valuable addition to their attack, which scored eight goals against United (5-1) and Al Khor (3-0).

His first match for his new club will be on the 28th of the current month against Al Ahli Youth, who feature Sardar Azmoun, who formed a long-standing Iranian attacking duo with Taremi.

The 34-year-old Taremi returns to play in the Gulf region, having previously played outside Iran for Qatari side Al-Gharafa in the 2018-2019 season, before embarking on a long European career with Portuguese clubs Rio Ave (2019-2020) and Porto (2020-2024), Italian side Inter (2024-2025), and Olympiacos (2025-2026).
