Al-Huwail: Selection of Cooperative Oversight Positions Based on Competence, Merit, and Transparency
This statement was made by Minister Al-Hawila in an interview with the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of the launch of examinations for candidates applying for 90 positions of financial and administrative inspectors in the cooperative sector, with 720 Kuwaiti men and women participating. This initiative is part of the ministry’s efforts to attract national talent and strengthen the oversight system for cooperative societies.
Al-Hawila noted that the advertised positions include 30 financial inspector roles and 60 administrative inspector roles, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to selecting qualified national personnel capable of carrying out oversight responsibilities and contributing to safeguarding cooperative funds and enhancing financial and administrative performance efficiency.
She clarified that the examinations were prepared and implemented in collaboration with the American University in Kuwait, aiming to apply objective standards for measuring candidates’ professional and academic competence, thereby reinforcing the integrity and credibility of the selection process.
Al-Hawila explained that passing the examination requires achieving a score of at least 80 percent to advance to the personal interview stage before the relevant committee within the ministry. She added that the interview accounts for 10 percent of the final evaluation, enabling a comprehensive assessment of candidates’ academic and professional attributes.
In this regard, she stressed that the ministry will spare no effort in developing cooperative oversight tools and empowering qualified national cadres, highlighting that financial and administrative inspectors play a pivotal role in monitoring cooperative societies’ compliance with governing laws and regulations, identifying and addressing observations, and thereby protecting shareholders’ rights.
In the same context, Al-Hawila indicated that this step falls within the ministry’s plan to develop the cooperative sector and complete the policy of Kuwaitization, building a more efficient and effective oversight apparatus in line with the state’s direction toward improving government performance and enhancing governance and integrity.
She expressed her best wishes for success to all applicants, affirming that examination results and subsequent procedures will be subject to the announced controls and standards without exception, and that selection will be based on merit and qualification to ensure the choice of the best national candidates.
