Kuwait's Junior Handball Team Loses to Qatar 19-30 in Jordan

Kuwait’s junior handball team suffered a 30-19 defeat to Qatar on Friday in the 11th Asian Championship, which serves as the qualifier for the 2027 Junior Handball World Cup hosted in Jordan. The tournament features 10 national teams and runs until August 31.

In their second match of the championship, the Kuwaiti team, known as the “Blue Handball Team,” fell to their Qatari rivals by the same scoreline of 30-19. Qatar dominated from the opening period, ending the first half with a 10-goal advantage (17-7). Although Kuwait showed relative improvement in the second half, it was not enough to change the outcome, leaving them with two points while Qatar moved to four points.

Kuwait had begun their campaign in the Asian Championship on Thursday with a 29-19 victory over Syria. The matches are part of Group 2, which also includes Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Qatar.

Kuwait will face Iran in their third match of the tournament on Monday.
