US: Plane carrying 8 people crashes in remote area of western Alaska

A federal official stated that a chartered aircraft carrying eight people crashed on Thursday near a remote radar site in western Alaska.
Clint Johnson, head of the Alaska region of the National Transportation Safety Board, said there were two pilots and six passengers on board. No immediate details were available regarding their condition.
He clarified that the plane had departed from Anchorage and was believed to have crashed on Thursday afternoon as it approached Newenham.
