The Third Conference on Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, September 4-5

Dr. Sandus Al-Sharid, President of the Kuwait Children’s Association, announced the launch of the Third Conference on Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, to be held on September 4 and 5, noting that this Gulf conference is the first of its kind for pediatric blood disorders and cancers. It aims to serve as a specialized scientific platform bringing together a select group of experts and consultants from within Kuwait, along with leading regional and international medical and academic centers, to showcase the latest scientific advancements and therapeutic developments in the field of pediatric hematology and oncology.
Al-Sharid stated that this year’s conference features a diverse scientific program that keeps pace with the rapid evolution in this specialty. Topics include pediatric hematological malignancies and solid tumors, bleeding and clotting disorders, inherited bone marrow failure syndromes, immune disorders, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, as well as gene therapy, precision medicine, and long-term care for cancer survivors. The conference will also discuss the latest diagnostic tools, innovative treatments, and challenges facing clinical practice in this field.
She added that the conference will host a distinguished group of international and regional experts from prestigious institutions, including Imperial College London, Johns Hopkins University, Children’s National Hospital, and SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital, alongside a select group of physicians and specialists from Kuwait and the region, thereby enhancing the exchange of expertise and building bridges for scientific collaboration between local and global institutions.
Al-Sharid pointed out that the program goes beyond scientific lectures, incorporating specialized educational and training workshops aimed at physicians, nursing staff, and various members of the multidisciplinary team. These sessions seek to translate modern scientific knowledge into practical applications that contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of care provided to children suffering from blood disorders and cancers.
She emphasized that the conference aims to consolidate Kuwait’s position as a regional scientific hub in pediatric hematology and oncology, while promoting continuous medical education, collaboration, and the exchange of expertise. These efforts will directly contribute to the development of health services and the improvement of care quality and treatment outcomes for children.
