Spanish Barcelona officially announces signing of Portuguese player Cancelo

Spanish football club Barcelona announced on Thursday that it has signed Portuguese international Joao Cancelo on a permanent deal from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, with the contract lasting for three seasons.

The club stated that Cancelo, who spent a loan spell at Barcelona last season, will join the team on a permanent basis until June 30, 2029.

The Portuguese international played for Inter Milan during the 2017/2018 season and for Juventus the following season, before joining English club Manchester City in the summer of 2019.

Cancelo continued playing for the English club for three and a half seasons, a period that included two loan spells, one to German club Bayern Munich and the other to Barcelona.

Cancelo began his career in his home country with Benfica in 2014, before moving to Spanish club Valencia and Italian club Juventus, and also played for Saudi club Al Hilal.
